American Dates - Advisory Notification 10 March 2010
Please be advised that we are encountering significantly more occurences of our user community running with American dates on servers and workstations. The result can be that up to two thirds of sales are rejected when imported, and the resultant third have their sale dates days and months transposed.
For Example: 6th January 2010 (6/1/2010) will appear as 1/6/2010 (1st June 2010) and 24th February 2010 (24/2/2010) would be rejected as it would present as 02/24/2010, there is NO 24th month.
Work is underway on the latest ValBiz thin client installer (JADE 6.2/6.3) to detect if a machine is running American dates, it is planned that future versions will issue an alert at the logon screen. Running with American dates doesn't just affect ValBiz it can also affect the operation of other software applications.
Please advise your IT consultants to make sure that any new servers and/or workstations installed on your network have all their regions and language settings (especially non-unicode) set to English (NZ) AND NOT English (US) or any other region

ValBiz Version 6.2 will give your practice the chance to soar in 2010. This release is full of new features many of which are user requested. Valuation practices not running either ValBiz Enterprise or one of the ValBiz Plus Series of products next year should be shaking in their shoes. We have continued to listen plus we have secured tools designed by other industries to ensure you can streamline your processes, reduce your aged debtors and generally make your life easier !

Payroll Giving 14 December 2009
From 07 January 2010, the iRD are introducing 'Payroll Giving' as a way of making donations to charitable organisations. More information is available at www.ird.govt.nz/payrollgiving
It is only available via the IRD if you file your EMS IR348 and EDF IR345 electronically. It is up to each employer to determine whether or not they wish to offer this service to their employees. The employee is responsible for providing you with the details of the charitable organisation. The employer is responsible for deducting the donation from employee wages and paying the donation to the charitable organisation and advising the charitable organisation of the donation.

Windows 7 compatibility with ValBiz 09 November 2009
Dear ValBiz users,
Especially 'single user' clients, that are thinking of moving their ValBiz system to a Windows 7 (or Vista, for that matter) machine.
You will need to be running ValBiz under JADE 6.2, or you are likely to have issues with printing & formatting.
To run JADE 6.2 your ValBiz version needs to be atleast 6.0.0. See Help on the menu bar, then check your JADE and ValBiz (App) versions.
As a reminder Vista will run ValBiz 6 at JADE 6.1 level ok, but JADE 6.2 is preferred option.

AVG (Anti Virus) - Advisory Notification 10 November 2009
Please be advised that the known compatibility issues with AVG Products has been resolved
Should you want to upgrade to AVG 9.0 series of products, please ensure you update to the latest definitions BEFORE opening your ValBiz product.

AVG (Anti Virus) - Advisory Notification 30 October 2009
Please be advised that we are currently recommending that the following Anti Virus products are avoided:
AVG Antivirus 9.0 - Free Edition
AVG Internet Security 9.0
AVG Antivirus & Firewall 9.0
These products have a known incatibility with ValBiz, by deleting required application files which will cause your ValBiz to cease working.
If you are being requested to upgrade, or looking at moving to AVG products, please do hold off for the short term.
We are currently working with AVG for a fix for this and will advise when this notice has been uplifted.

1. Check the 'Are you Ready' ?
2. Fill in and return the ValBiz Version 6 - Order Form
3. Complete, sign and return the Software & Support - Licence & Maintenance Agreement
4. On receipt of steps 2 & 3 we will send you a link to download your Version 6 upgrade.

- Automatic scheduling of daily sales data downloads to provide you with more timely sales information (each ValBiz system requiring access to auto data downloads will need to be issued a PIN number from Headway Systems Ltd)

We continue to work with the Profession fine tuning the Report Writer. We are determined that the default Valuation Report Template adheres to best practice principles and is of a format that will be acceptable to the highest percentage of Valuers. Trials are indicating that the time and money savings, particularly for sole practitioners, are obvious and extensive.
